The performers are a joint ensemble combining the choirs of University Congregational UCC in Seattle and Bellevue First Congregational Church. The mixed-voice Chancel Choir of the Bellevue First Congregational Church performs a wide array of music, classical and contemporary. It has performed major concert works with other choirs in the Seattle area, including the Fauré Requiem, the Duruflé Requiem, the Street Requiem, and Considering Matthew Shepard: A Choral Suite. The choir has toured internationally in Europe, South America, Africa, and New Zealand. The Chancel Choir is non auditioned and open to singers of all voice parts regardless of experience. For the individual musician, the language of music is often as powerful as the word. As the University Congregational Church choir presents the vast repertoire of sacred and meaningful music - from Bach to Brubeck, from South Africa to New South Wales, from individuals’ personal Christian roots to communion with others of different traditions – one learns to understand and appreciate various ways of playing, dancing and singing the sacred.
