Diving into the charismatic and colourful life of the late Scottish painter John Bellany, Stephanie's compositions are a tribute to both the artist and the way he captures himself and the world around him.
Released on the tenth anniversary of John's death, Stephanie's debut album 'Bellany' translates his story into sound.
Inspired by a chance sighting of Bellany's 1995 'The Skate and the Kate' at a young age, his style of painting and distinct themes left an impression which bloomed into a strong appreciation of his work.
The ensemble drift through a folk inspired chasm into the center of John's world, exploring the social and religious themes of his work and visiting key people, places and events which shaped him.
The ensemble paint their own portraits of this complex character and as the final chords fade out, the fragments of Bellany interfuse to reveal his extraordinary life.
