About Magdalene Ho
Born in California but growing up in Malaysia, Magdalene Ho started piano lesson at age 4; though neither of her parents played, they loved music deeply, and her father wanted her to learn. Five years later—at the age of 9—she moved to the United Kingdom on a full scholarship to The Purcell School, where she studied from 2013 to 2022 with Patsy Toh, whom she calls her great inspiration and role model. Magdalene is currently pursuing a bachelor’s degree at the Royal College of Music with Dmitri Alexeev, also on a full scholarship.
In 2023, Magdalene garnered international recognition with a first-prize win at the Clara Haskil Competition in Switzerland, also taking home three special awards. In 2023 and 2024, she won a pair of RCM competition, the latter of which landed her on radar of International Piano magazine, who named her “One to Watch;” this was followed by becoming the first female winner of the International German Piano Award in November.
